5777 Yom Kippur Food Drive

Dear Friends,

On Yom Kippur we fast as part of the process of seeking repentance. We know, however, that there are people in our community who have no choice but to go hungry.

This year, Agudath Achim Congregation will be sponsoring a Yom Kippur food drive with all of the donations going to the food bank down the street.

We will have a table set up near the Social Hall from September 8th thru the 26th. Please bring donations of non-perishable food items to services with you, and leave them on the table.

This is the year to extend yourself to others in need, Donate Please!

Items that are needed: cereal, canned soups, peanut butter, jelly, cookies, crackers, rice, canned vegetables, canned fruits, beans, macaroni and cheese, cake mix, condiments, coffee and tea packets.

Shana Tova,

Rabbi Wohl

We read on Yom Kippur:

Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen…

Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—
when you see the naked, to clothe them,
and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? (Isaiah 58:6-7)
